There is a new process for weight loss that has been getting rave reviews in the press over in Europe. People are flocking to Spain and England to have a hypnotist perform a “virtual” surgery on them. They are being led through a process where their subconscious is led to believe that their virtual surgeon has performed a stomach altering surgery. So that they couldn’t possibly eat so much because their stomach is so small it wouldn’t hold any additional food.

What is really happening is their mind is being led to believe that they can’t eat the additional foods that has been making them fat. This sounds pretty amazing. But the press tells the stories of the people who have gone through the process, having lost significant weight because of it. The practitioners, newspapers and TV programs are claiming success rates ranging from 70 - 95%. It’s working so well that it’s grabbed the interest of the National Health Service over in Britain and they are considering using it to help lower costs of their national obesity epidemic.

The good news is that you can take advantage of this process right here in New York City. There is a new study being performed in my office. To see how effective this process is. Gastric Bypass Surgery - Does the Surgery Work or is it Something Else?

Gastric Bypass Surgery is a medical procedure that is performed by a doctor in a hospital operating room. The surgeon will cut into your body and perform some kind of reworking of your digestive system that makes it almost impossible for you to eat too much food. And if you can’t eat too much food then you will start to lose weight.

It sounds like a wonderful way to lose weight for people who are unable to do it on their own. But does the surgery make the patient lose weight or is there another factor that is the cause of the weight loss? The reason that I question the surgery is because after the operation the patient is then forced to eat a special diet. They must eat small portions. And I believe that it’s that process that causes the weight loss. Not the operation.

Here’s what happens during the operation. the surgeon goes in and cuts away part of the stomach or parts of the tubes leading to the stomach. He then reattaches them to the rest of the digestive system. The intent is to make the patients stomach smaller an unable to hold their normal amount of food. In fact, if the patient should eat too much they will end up vomiting up the extra portion, or worse, cause damage to their internal organs. this would require another surgical procedure that would add additional danger to the entire process.

So what this process has done is take the condition of being overweight, which is a long term danger, and made it into an acute short term danger. And it does require the patient to re learn better eating and dietary habits. These new better eating behaviors are the reason for the loss of weight. And if the patient doesn’t adopt the new behaviors they will have an acute attack of sometime that could result in death. It seems kind of a drastic measure, just to get you to take back control of your eating, doesn’t it?

But what if you could have the motivator of the surgery without all the risks of the surgery? Would that work? And then working with a professional to stay on track with your new dietary choices start to lose weight the natural way. Without the risk of immediate death and without the cost of the hospital bills and the surgeons expense.

What has been developed is a process called a virtual gastric bypass. And it is performed in the office of a hypnotist trained to guide their client through a visualization process that has the client believing they underwent an operation that decreased the size of their stomach. Making it impossible for the client to eat too much or they will end up vomiting the extra food. With the effectiveness of the hypnotic techniques used these days, this is a wonderful workable solution. And one that should be considered.

It has been reported in News across the world about these type of virtual operations being performed. According to one hypnotist they achieve a 95% success rate in one month’s time. Some of the participants reported losing up to a pound a day. With this encouraging news, I am looking for participants to join me in a study of this new procedure. How To Lose Weight While Eating

Ok, here it is. It is one of the most simple things you can do. It is extremely effective and powerful. And yet, when I first explain to you what it is, you’re probably going to put it aside, ignore it, or say to yourself, “that’s so simple”, or ” I knew that”. Don’t be put off the simplistic nature of what I’m about to reveal. Remember the power is in the action you take, not in your own conscious thoughts. So here is the simple strategy that will guarantee that you will reduce your weight. Allow yourself to only eat in a few specific locations. Period. That’s it, the simple strategy that will allow you to lose weight fast and steadily. There are some additional fine points that I’m going to make but that is pretty much it, in a nutshell.

Where You Eat Will Make You Fat

That’s right, your location choice of where you eat, or dine will most definitely make you fat. Some of those places that you have eaten in the past that have caused you to put on weight are sitting at your desk at work, sitting on the couch in front of the television, sitting in front of the computer, lying on your bed, standing around in the kitchen, or at work, or walking around eating, snacking, or drinking. These are the places that cause weight gain, and prevent weight loss. As far as walking around and eating, the Japanese culture has it correctly. You will rarely see Japanese people walking around the streets eating food. It is culturally unacceptable, even rude. This is obviously a learned behavior that has become accepted in our culture. There is a cure for this…STOP IT!

Mindful choices of where you eat are as important as when you eat and what you choose to eat. That’s because you want to have your full attention on the foods that you are eating. You want to focus and enjoy the foods, relish the taste, flavor, texture, and aroma. Know that you are eating and eating slowly and you will easily become aware of when you have eaten enough and naturally stop. When you focus on the mechanics of eating, you have no distractions and you are able to control the amount of foods you supply your body with, as well as fully enjoy what it is that you are eating. It’s called mindful eating.

How To Develop Mindful Eating

The simple way of developing mindful eating is to create the associations of good feelings with the places that you allow yourself the comfort of eating, and create the associations of bad, uncomfortable feelings with the places that you no longer will accept as places to eat food. In my office in NYC I regularly use hypnosis to facilitate this change in my clients. You can use the self hypnosis techniques that I teach in my self hypnosis mini course to mentally rehearse these pleasure and pain associations on your own as well. Even using your conscious mind to make a change, while taking longer to accomplish, will help you in developing the new habits of a healthy and fit person. And that’s what this is all about, creating the habits of a healthy and fit person.

In Summary

You have the power to take back control of your eating behaviors. It is a simple process once you identify those behaviors that are causing you to gain weight. I have found that many of the clients that come to see me are unaware of what the behaviors are that are the cause of their weight problem. There is also those who know what they are doing wrong, but can’t seem to make the change on their own. Those people are usually driven more by the emotional pleasure they derive from the behavior, or even from the distractive nature of the behavior rather than the need to consume nutrition for survival. With those people it is necessary to work through what feeling component is to their unwelcome behavior before they can make changes in the behavior itself.

Can I Be Hypnotized?

This is probably the most asked question that I get as a full time practicing Hypnotist. Well that, and how much does it cost. I’ll address both these questions in this blog post. And I’ve got a little extra as well. I have a video example of one of my client’s first hypnosis session. It’s very revealing as to what to expect in your very first hypnosis session with me. Maybe it’ll even dispel some of those myths, and fears you might be holding onto that have prevented you from calling me to begin your change.

You’ve probably read or heard that hypnosis is a natural state, and it is. It is a state of trance that almost all of us are familiar with. And I could easily say that all, not almost all, because if you were not able to go into this trance state that we’re discussing, you wouldn’t be able to read this post as well. So I’ll amend my last statement to “all”. Yes, and that means you. You can, and do go into hypnotic trance every day of your life. There are many misconceptions and myths surrounding hypnosis. What it is, how it affects us, and what can and cannot be accomplished using it. There are some groups that would like to keep that confusion going. That way you won’t search for the answers to your problems with tools other than what they’re selling or providing. That’s fine for them, but not so fine for you.

The Truth About Hypnosis

The truth about hypnosis and the hypnotic state is that you own it, nobody else. No one can sell you your own hypnotic state. They can’t sell you something that you already own. As a hypnotist, I can show you how to use your hypnotic state for your benefit. You probably already know how to use the hypnotic state incorrectly, so I’ll probably be showing you how to use it correctly. This education and training is only a part of what I do as a hypnotist, working with you to improve your life. With this information you will be in a position to take back control over your behaviors. Behaviors that seem to be outside of your control so far.

How Much Does It Cost?

I get this question a lot, probably because most people don’t know what to ask. They are so used to comparing purchases by price that this becomes their tool for comparison. Going to see a hypnotist is comparatively inexpensive. Especially if you compare it to what your problem has been costing you in real dollars over the lifespan that your problem has existed. Many people see a hypnotist to stop smoking or for weight loss. Smokers spend thousands of dollars a year on just the cost of cigarettes. There are of course other additional costs associated to smoking cigarettes, most of these are never tallied up in the total cost of smoking. But they are real costs as well. Increased insurance costs, medical expenses, housing costs, pay scale loss (being passed over for jobs), lost sales (if your income involves selling of any kind), and many, many more. There are also social costs, self-esteem loss, confidence loss, and many other emotional strains associated with smokers.

I could easily make a case for solid monetary expenses that are being borne by the person with any behavioral problem that has been ongoing for years. Think of the added expense associated with weight problems. Aside from the cost of cigarettes, all the other costs are relevant. And people who are having problems with their weight usually eat more food than they need. This is an added expense. I also think that fat people are going to be the new “smokers” of the future. They’ll be ostracized and shunned, and pressured into changing. The way that smokers are today. Especially if universal health care goes into affect. Society will not look kindly on those that are costing them additional money because they are out of control with their behaviors. I’ll be able to write more on that in another post.

When you take an accounting of what your problem truly costs you in dollars and cents, you will see that a series of sessions with a hypnotist is quite affordable in comparison. In addition to saving you money, you just start to feel the freedom and control you wanted most if not all of your life. And it’s hard to put a price on that joy. If you don’t see the benefit of spending money on your own improvement, then you’re probably better off just continuing on the way you are. The change is probably not that important to you. And your own time is probably not that valuable to you or anyone else. Not meaning to be harsh, just realistic.

Not Everyone Can Be Hypnotized

You know how some people have told you that not everyone can be hypnotized? Well that is totally untrue. But it is true that not everyone will get the benefit of being hypnotized. One of the indicators of whether you’ll get the benefit as quickly, or at all, is if you see the value in your own improvement. I have worked with many people who initially appeared to be price sensitive, but after our work claimed that I didn’t charge enough! Now that’s what I call massive value!

So your improvement mentally, spiritually, and physically is well worth the price, time and effort. All you have to do is make the decision to change and choose a knowledgeable and caring hypnotist to work with.

The video I put on this page shows one of my client’s first session. My initial assessment of Genevieve is that she will be a great success in achieving the freedom she desires. She is really responsive and is already experiencing tremendous results in her perception and her feelings even in this very first session. As you will probably see there isn’t anything foreign or strange about doing hypnosis with me. It is just a way of accessing a part of you that wants to help and protect you, but has yet to learn how to do that effectively. I’ll be posting other parts of the work that I am doing with Genevieve.

What Are The New Behaviors For Weight Loss?

In an earlier article I discussed how hypnosis can be used to make lifestyle changes that will become habits. These new habits will lead to an overweight person becoming a lean, physically and emotionally healthier person. Now I received a bunch of questions about what are the habits that I work on to help an overweight person create change? And since there were so many questions about what these habits are I decided to write a series of articles explaining the basic habit changes necessary or most desirable that will lead to the quickest change in your weight status.

What’s The Number 1 Habit Of A Healthy And Fit Person?

Eat Regularly- Especially Breakfast!

You probably heard that one before. In fact it’s probably even now bouncing around inside your head and it’s probably still anchored to the voice of your mother telling you to eat breakfast, or asking you as you were running out the door for school, whether you had your breakfast. You probably heard them say that students who ate a good morning meal were more attentive in class and better learners. Well, take a moment to thank mom, for trying to set you straight. It seems to hold true that if you eat a “good” breakfast you will be healthier, more alert and function better during the day. Here’s some of the theory behind having a good breakfast. You see that word breakfast? It literally means breaking your fast. That’s the fast you did all night while you were sleeping. It’s like a mini hibernation.

“Take Out The Papers And The Trash…”

While you were sleeping, your body was busy using all the fuel (food, nutrients, etc.) you consumed during the day to rebuild and resupply the parts of your body that were in need. Anything left over was either put into the trash system and shipped out of your body, or stored for some other time. The amount set aside for storage depends upon what your body figures will be available or unavailable in the near future. So your body has some kind of mechanism that monitors the availability of fuel and changes your storage needs based upon that information. Where does that information come from? Your very own behavior.

So It’s All About Survival!

If you don’t eat regularly, your own body interprets that as a sign of food shortage. And if there is a food shortage, there is a real threat you could starve. That is how your body operates. Your body doesn’t really care much as to whether you can fit into that designer dress or suit you just bought and had custom fitted. Your body’s more interested in whether you’ll be around tomorrow to procreate and keep the species going. That’s the big picture. Everything else (designer clothes, self-esteem, respect from others, etc.) is secondary. So what do you think happens if you starve yourself to lose weight? Your body goes into a food storage orgy. You start to get really stingy about using up your food stores. You hold onto and build up your fat reserves. That’s one of the reasons why restrictive diets don’t work. So you must eat in order to lose weight. You must eat in order to let your survival monitor know that you are not starving and everything is A-OK. In fact you must make sure that you maintain at least a minimum amount of calories coming in everyday so that you don’t trigger that starvation/hoard program that’s built in for your survival.

Getting Back To Breakfast.

Breakfast is literally breaking the fast that we just experienced all night long. We haven’t eaten now for the longest stretch of time during our 24 hour day. When we awaken in the morning the quickest way to let your survival monitor know that everything is OK, and we are not starving, is to eat something. Start supplying food to your body as early as you can after you get up and your body’s metabolism will kick in and start burning up the fat resources it’s been hoarding as well as the new food you’re taking in. It returns your metabolism to it’s normal waking rate after it’s been slowed down for your sleep period. This will make sure that you will be burning off the foods you take in as well as the old foods you stored as fat.
